My Favourites Custom Tackle

A division of Jay Kivell and Associates

Jay has been an avid fisherman since he was five years old. He uses many fishing techniques on shore including: still fishing, drift fishing and fly fishing. On the water he can be found trolling, drift fishing and down rigging. In the winter he likes to ice fish. His favourite fish are trout, salmon and walleye. He organizes many fishing trips throughout the year in Ontario for family and friends.

In 1980, he was taught to tie flies by Ken Smith of Guelph and in 1982 he was taught to tie flies by Ian James of then Guelph and now London. He is a founding member of the Casual Fly Fishing Club in Guelph. As well, he is a member of Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, a member of the Georgian Triangle Anglers Association and a member of the Blue Ridge Sportsmen's Club. He volunteers with these two local organizations.

He has recently started custom tying Walleye harnesses walleye, bass, pike and perch because he could not get what he wanted from tackle stores. As well, he ties custom worm harnesses for walleye, bass, crappie, pike and perch. If you do not use floating walleye harnesses, try these worm harnesses. His flies are simple yet effective.

Floating Walleye harnesses are $30 to $36 per dozen, worm harnesses are $27 per dozen and flies vary from $18 to $54 per dozen plus taxes and shipping. Contact Jay to order.
